Dejian Tao_Pedestal Project

For this pedestal  project, I challenge to combine the material pink-foam and tire. I used to have pink-foam experience. I very take care of the space and relationship between tire part and the big shape. Also with the either of them, their self-space. I pick the sky blue with white by using drip-painting skill. Simply create abstract movement into the sculpture as contemporary piece.
I love the process I was working on, also the tire part touching with the big shape present they can't without each other. Both of space created shadow make the piece unit and more interested.

LTLYM_Batchelder_ "Your Body is a Canvas"

"Your Body is a Canvas"
For this assignment, I asked students to take a picture of their favorite tattoo, and explain the reason behind it. If students didn't have a tattoo but wanted one, I asked if they would either draw a picture of their future tattoo, or find a picture of one they like online, and give a reason why they would want that tattoo. If the student never wants to get a tattoo, I asked them to explain why. Here are the responses I received !

Here is my Tattoo. Its a portrait of My archangel Gabriel with his name written in Hebrew. He is the reason of why I became a Born-again Christian. He came to me on a white horse saying "God is not blind to your struggle, for I am Gabriel, nothing will every touch you again." I didn't believe it was real  until I saw hoof prints on the carpet in my room.

If I ever get a tattoo I would either do a dreamcatcher or an owl similar to the picture.  I have always loved owls because of the fact that they sleep all day and are up all night.  And I relate to that because I am way more a night person than waking up early. And I love how powerful and beautiful they are.

For my pedestal project, I wanted to create a classy pedestal that resembles a lamp and a chandelier. My original idea was to put a string of white lights through the vases to illuminate the beads. Unfortunately, the string of lights broke during the process so I was unable to do so. I drilled a hole into the bottom of each vase so I was able to put a dowel through to make the pedestal stable, then glued them all together. I then cut a circle out of wood and drilled holes around the edge so I was able to put the beads through creating the chandelier look.

Everyone was asked if they could add any holiday or special event to our 1 year calendar: What would they add and why? Here's what some people came up with!

Alexander McDonough Pedestal project

This is a giant chess piece made out of foam that i carved out slowly, then later painted with satin paint. On top are chess pieces made out of wood, which i carved out of a 2in x 2in piece of wood on the lathe. Included are one of every piece excluding the pawn.

Chair Pedestal - Alex Rolph

My idea for my pedestal was combining an everyday chair with a pedestal which plays on the idea of not being allowed to sit on pedestals. Being that it is part chair people would be tempted to sit on it but the height I made it makes it impossible creating a haunting or nostalgic feeling of a missing human being. To create my pedestal I constructed the pedestal part out of wood then found an old everyday chair and took the top of the chair and connected it to the top of the pedestal.
